Keeping It Simple

“Keep it simple, stupid”. It’s a familiar adage but how often is simplicity considered when creating a marketing plan? For example, window signage is the type of artwork often seen splashed across the panes of car dealers and other retail establishments. Cost-effective, quick to produce and highly visible, a painted window is a powerful tactic to capture attention, increase branding and promotions and to get the word out.

Kristi Colobella, owner of K-9 Cuts & Pupkulture Boutique in Bountiful, UT provides the perfect example of how this concept of “KISS” along with a paint brush and a bit of color can offer a straightforward approach to attracting new customers and keeping the regulars coming back.

While driving past a retail shop one Christmas, Colobella noticed the window art and stopped to inquire. She hired the artist and the rest is history.

“We have been doing this for a year now and usually have something on the windows,” she said. “Our marketing is mostly word of mouth but people driving by see the sign and call. The response is great.”

The reaction to the artwork on the K-9 Cuts & Pupkulture Boutique storefront proves that marketing doesn’t have to be a complicated, expensive endeavor to be noticeable and effective.
